English Language Programs

The intent of the program is to provide opportunities for students to upgrade their language skills relevant to the course in all four skill areas: Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening.

Classroom based. Lectures (ie PowerPoint/ chalk and talk/ videos etc.), explanation and discussion; practice exercises, readings and quizzes; partner and group activities (such as role plays or practice areas); group and pair work; oral presentations; homework. Students will be given opportunities for practice in all areas.

“These programs/courses do not require approval by the registrar of the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training. As such, the registrar did not review this program”.

ESL upgrading

  • The program provides opportunities for students to upgrade their language
  • skills in all four skill areas: reading, writing, speaking and listening.
  • The program consists of one program / one course.
  • 80 hours per course
  • Full-time: 20 hours/ week

ESL Program

  • The program is a set of six courses designed to serve students varying in
  • proficiency level from Elementary general English user to Advanced Academic English user.
  • Western style of instruction
  • 12 weeks, 300 hours
  • Full-time

TESOL (American TESOL Institute) Teaching Certification

  • The program provides a base knowledge in teaching English as a second
  • language, with a focus on methods and approaches to teaching English.
  • 120 academic hours

Heath and Safety

The College ensures the health and safety of all staff, students and community by following the official guidelines set out by the Government of Canada, the Province of British Columbia; local health and safety authorities.

TheCOVID-19 safety and response plans developed by the institution are intended to provide a comprehensive safety plan and support the return of international students. The intent is to mitigate risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The plans apply to domestic and international students; faculty and staff; community and the public; and external contractors.

There are ongoing updates to the regulations regarding entering Canada due to the COVID-19 situation.

International students on study permits continue be allowed into Canada for institutions assessed to have appropriate measures in place to ensure that the students who attend the institution can meet applicable obligations with respect to the mandatory quarantine.   Please refer to the website below and/or contact the College for updates.
